Triple Homicide Investigation

Homicide Investigation

The following timeline documents the known events surrounding the triple homicide investigation in Wayne County, Utah, involving Ivan W. Miller. Authorities allege Miller, a 22-year-old from Iowa, randomly killed three women on March 4, 2026, including an elderly resident in Lyman, Utah and two hikers at the Cockscomb Trailhead.

Investigators say Miller had no known connection to the victims or the area. The timeline begins months earlier with documented encounters involving Miller, including law enforcement incidents, vehicle movements, and the crash of his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD near Loa, Utah, which investigators believe left him stranded in Wayne County shortly before the killings.

The chronology below reconstructs events before, during, and after the murders, including the discovery of the victims, the interstate manhunt, and Miller’s eventual arrest in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
