Missing People in America spoke with the family of Hollynn Snapp, a 19-year-old woman who stood only 4’9”. Hollynn had a difficult childhood—her mother lost custody of her at a young age, and she spent years in foster care before being adopted.
In October 2023, she vanished without a trace. Her loved ones pleaded with the police for help, but their concerns were dismissed. Authorities brushed Hollynn off as just another young adult who had left home on her own. But as the investigation finally took shape, a tangled and chilling story began to emerge.

Missing People In America: Hope For Hollynn
Transcript of the Interview with Former Foster Parent, Heather
(00:01) Video of Hollynn playing: CU I can’t help it you can’t help it yeah I actually about to cry that’s how bad I’ve been laughing inside.
Heather: Several eyewitnesses know um Steve Link beat Hollynn and we know that she was pretty much unconscious, not able to articulate, not able to form sentences or anything like that after he beat her. From there, I have no idea where she could be or what happened. Lots of theories but nothing that’s really panned out.
(01:21) Hollynn was around nine when she, no, I’m sorry, eight when she came to live with us around 2013. She was here on and off for right around a year before she was adopted in 2014 by Heather and Steven Snapp, who are her parents for all intents and purposes. We have always, my family and I, stayed in touch with them. You know, just attended things that we could that Hollynn would have, like choir. I still, myself, would go see her, talk to her all the time on the phone. She would message me two or three times a week, and if I didn’t hear from her, I was like, oh, what’s going on, and we would reconnect.
(02:04) When Hollynn lived with us and the last time I saw her, she very much had a very country accent. She’s very, um, just the sweetest little accent. I think that’s one of her characteristics that people would definitely know her by. She is very small, I mean strikingly small. She’s the size of my 11-year-old daughter. She’s about 4’9″ and weighs about 90 lbs, the last time I saw her. She had lost weight. I don’t think I have said this anywhere else, but I do feel like it is really important that people might know that her actual name is Erika Bilhommer. That was her name before she was adopted. Hollynn got a new start, and that was a very good thing for her. She likes being called Hollynn.
(03:23) Hollynn is very impulsive. She’s very trusting of people that she definitely should not be trusting of. She’s never met a stranger, and everybody, according to her, loves her and has her best interest at heart. Unfortunately, today’s 460 days that she’s been missing. We know now that she was wrong about that. People do not always have your best interest at heart, and I wish that we could have instilled that in her a little bit more. Hollynn has the IQ of 64 and has the mentality of a 10 or an 11-year-old, making her extremely vulnerable and easier to take advantage of.
(04:45) Around the time that Hollynn disappeared, there were so many big things happening in her family and in Heather’s family. Heather’s family suffered a loss of a loved one, and that put Heather in a bad spot with being able to have Hollynn at her home. Hollynn had been living with her aunt in Kingsport. That got a little rocky, and it was apparent that Hollynn needed to go to inpatient rehab. She was doing outpatient but needed inpatient. Hollynn went to Heather’s home, but Heather couldn’t let her stay due to everything going on. So, Hollynn went to Johnson City Medical Center. Starting the night of the 27th, she started calling me, “Hey, can you come get me?” I already knew what was going on and knew that she needed to go inpatient.
(06:39) I talked to Hollynn until about 4:30 that morning and then again around 6. That was the last time I ever talked to Hollynn. That was September 28th. I remember that because it’s my birthday. My daughter got married September 30th. Hollynn had asked if she could be at the wedding, and we were like, “Sure!” She said, “I’m so afraid that I will mess something up.” I said, “Hollynn, what could you mess up?” Of course, she wasn’t at the wedding. I assumed that she had gone inpatient from the hospital.
(07:42) She was last known to be in Kingsport. She texted Heather an address and said, “Hey, this is where I am and who I am with.” She also told Heather his name, which is very much like her. His name was Steven Linkus. He lives at the address provided to Heather, 1315 B Ridge Drive in Kingsport, Tennessee. That area has multiple residences at one address—a few campers, a trailer, and a house.
(08:52) Kingsport City was difficult to work with when we tried to report her missing. Heather started calling them, and they gave her a runaround. On the 19th, I called, and they said the detective was on vacation. Finally, I told Heather to come to me, and we went to Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. They took a report but initially downplayed the situation. But I knew something was wrong. Hollynn messaged us every day, and all communication stopped on October 5th.
(10:42) Several witnesses have come forward. We know she was taken to Steven Linkus’ house by a mutual friend. She thought she was going to a party, but it was not what she expected. Several witnesses say that at some point, Steve Linkus beat Hollynn, and she was unconscious, unable to speak or form sentences. From there, we have no idea where she could be.
(12:47) There have been multiple search warrants issued for the residence and electronics. However, there was a gap in time between when we believe the beating happened and when she was formally reported missing, giving him time to dispose of evidence. He had surveillance cameras, and some of that footage was deleted, though parts were recovered.
(14:01) After Hollynn was reported missing, Linkus fled to Georgia, where he was arrested on drug charges. He was later extradited back to Sullivan County. He has never been charged in connection with Hollynn’s disappearance.
(16:48) Another person living on the property took a sudden “vacation” during the same time period. There were several adults at the property, and one has since passed away from an overdose. Police have interviewed some individuals, but there’s a lot that remains uncertain.
(28:26) We will never stop searching for Hollynn. Heather, her mother, has a chronic disease. It would be kind and gracious for someone to tell her what happened. We pray daily for answers. If anyone has information, we beg you to come forward.
