Chris Proudfoot said Terry and Cathy were on a two-week business trip to Alaska.

Chris said Chloe had never spoken with him directly, but he had spoken with Heather. Chloe said she sent Chris a Facebook message on March 17, introducing herself and asking questions about his normal schedule compared to Sebastian’s. She asked whether Chris came home on weekends when Sebastian was at Seth’s house, or whether Katie went to him.

Chris addressed comments from a live chat that described him as drunk and belligerent. He said he was simply “a pissed-off dad.”

Chris became angry over Seth publicly discussing Sebastian’s bathroom habits. He said he had a good conversation with Seth, but three hours later, Seth blamed “my wife,” Katie, during an interview. Chloe told Chris not to focus on what others had done, which angered him, and Chris told her she was “full of shit.”

Chris said he helped Seth get his job. He learned about the opening, called Seth, and encouraged him to apply. Seth later called and thanked him. Chris said he had been Seth’s supporter and cheerleader throughout the process. When Seth considered not completing the required training, Chris encouraged him to do so for Sebastian, so Sebastian could see what his father was capable of.

Chris denied taking flyers down and said no one has provided proof that he did.

Chris said tips that come in weeks later can be terrible for the investigation, but people should still call in tips and also send them to the private investigators. He said people should not expect a call back every time they submit a tip.

Chris said he is not upset with any of the agencies involved. He believes they have thrown everything they have at the case. He said the number of assets used made this a huge search for Tennessee and Sumner County, and he believes law enforcement is doing everything they can.

The private investigator said everyone involved in the case has been publicly ripped apart, and that the drama does not help find Sebastian. Chris said he wants Seth to agree to stay off YouTube, and the private investigators agreed.

Chris said he believes Sebastian walked out of the house, walked off the front porch, and vanished because he does not know what else happened. He said every door in the house was locked. The front door had a keypad, while every other door required a key. There was also a back door, but in Chris’s mind the only realistic possibility is that Sebastian walked out the front door.

Chris said he does not know whether Sebastian was running or scared of something.

Chris and Katie said the clothing Sebastian wore that night at Texas Roadhouse has been accounted for and is in law enforcement’s possession. Chris described the clothing as black Adidas-style pants with a stripe down the side and a long-sleeve shirt with a picture on the front.

Gray Hughes said that, from what he had seen, Chris appeared to be trying to figure things out. Gray said he could feel Chris’s emotions and said he would probably feel the same way if the community hated him.

Chris addressed the spanking allegation. He said he spanked Sebastian one time on the butt, over his clothes, years earlier. He said that while it may not be morally correct, he does not consider it abuse. Chris said the CPS incident was not related to the belt or the spanking. According to Chris, Sebastian went to school one day and told a teacher something, then CPS came to the house. Chris said that the incident had nothing to do with Sebastian being spanked and was because Sebastian did not like being in trouble. Chris said the spanking incident and the CPS incident were separate. He said there is a difference between discipline and abuse.

Chris said there was no violence in the home involving Sebastian.

Regarding the reported “thud,” Chris said it happened sometime between when he and Katie got on the phone and when they got off.

Chris said it was so dark that the cameras would not have captured anything useful if Sebastian had walked by them.

Chris said he has had sleeping issues his whole life.

Chris said he has never seen Sebastian hide under a neighbor’s car.

Chris said Sebastian acted one way at Chris and Katie’s house and another way at Seth’s house, but he could not speak to how Sebastian behaved at Seth’s home.

Chris said Sebastian was not excited to live with Seth because it would have meant online school rather than in-person. He said Sebastian was excited at first, but after learning about online school, he did not want to go. Chris declined to discuss why online school was being considered, saying it was a personal family matter.

When asked whether it was common for him and Katie to talk on the phone that long at night, Chris answered, “Sure.”

Seth asked Chris about rumors that Cathy had Sebastian. Chris said if Seth believed his parents had something to do with Sebastian’s disappearance, Seth could call them himself because he had Cathy’s number. Seth said he wanted to hear it from Chris.

Chris said Seth was at Chris’s house for three days at the beginning of the case.

Chris said he had an issue with Seth making accusations. He said law enforcement has spoken with his parents and his entire family. Chris said Seth knows his parents were not with Katie on Sunday night.

Chris said he is willing to work with Seth. He said Seth has asked questions about the dogs, a public relations person, and other issues. Chris said he has looked into people and would investigate names given to him.

Chris said there were 13 to 18 dogs total, both inside and outside the house, during the search period. He said on Day 1 there were only five dogs, and one of those dogs hit. He said three different dogs took off toward the construction site and retention pond, following the same trail. The rest of the dogs went in different directions, which Chris said made the dog information unreliable.

Chris said they are searching and putting up flyers, but all three parents were told not to search at the beginning. He said they are not conducting public searches.

Chris said they have been receiving death threats and that he reports everything to the TBI.

Chris said he is back working.

Chris said he would get back to the spokesperson.

Chris said Sebastian had a great day and was in a good mood based on the video footage he had seen. He said Sebastian did not appear upset, as far as they all know. Seth did not interject.

Chris said the weekend was normal for them. They often went out and did things, and there was no special occasion. He said he does not believe Sebastian was overstimulated.

Chris became upset over accusations from Seth and the private investigator and said they should get TBI Agents Bobby and Carter involved in the conversation. The private investigator then backed off.

Chris said Seth had put out many things he should not have and had encouraged rumors.

Chris clarified that when he told Seth to go to church and find his son, he did not mean Seth would literally find Sebastian at church. He said he meant Seth should go to church and find him through God.
